Does Rust have an in-game name editor?
No. Rust displays your Steam profile name in multiplayer. Change your Steam display name — it updates in Rust automatically.
How long can a Rust player name be?
Rust multiplayer allows 2–32 characters via your Steam display name. We recommend 3–20 for readability on servers and in team chat.
Can Rust names be numbers only?
No. Facepunch kicks players whose names are only numbers. Use letters with optional number suffixes instead.
Can I use special characters in Rust?
Stick to letters, numbers, and spaces. Unicode and special symbols can display as question marks or get you kicked on strict servers.
How is this different from the Steam Username Generator?
This tool is Rust-only — locked to Rust PvP/raider presets and server kick rules. The Steam generator covers general PC profile names up to 32 chars.
Can I impersonate admins?
